ACCRA — The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts has announced that Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will officially launch the newly updated and Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the National Theatre in Accra.
The landmark event, scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, marks a major turning point in Ghana’s cultural development agenda. It provides a renewed strategic roadmap to preserve, promote, and leverage the country’s rich heritage as a central pillar for national progress, social cohesion, and economic growth.
According to an official statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, the framework has been thoroughly reviewed to reflect contemporary national and global realities. Key areas of focus within the modernized policy include the rapid expansion of the creative economy, technological advancements, the rise of cultural tourism, youth empowerment, and cultural education. Furthermore, it addresses the urgent need to safeguard both tangible and intangible assets across the nation.
The Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy represents a significant milestone,” the Ministry stated, emphasizing its goal to position culture as a catalyst for creative innovation and sustainable nation-building.
The high-profile launch is expected to bring together a wide cross-section of stakeholders, including government officials, traditional authorities, development partners, academia, civil society organizations, and members of the diplomatic community.
